Upcoming Expansion!

On July 1st, 2008 Hershey Entertainment Group announced that The Boardwalk at Hersheypark will be expanded with a new wavepool, lazy river, restaurant, and private cabanas, with the addition of a new locker room and 1,000 Lockers. It will include the removal of the Rodeo at the end of the 2008 season, as well as Canyon River Rapids, which closed forever on August 17, 2008. The Boardwalk Sea-quel will be able to hold 4000 guests at a time. The cost of the addition is estimated to be about $16.1 million USD.

History of the Park

Hersheypark is an amusement park located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, close to the Hershey Chocolate Factory. Hersheypark was opened in 1907 as a leisure park for the employees of the Hershey Chocolate Company, an American confectionery company. It was founded by Milton S. Hershey. Later, the company decided to open the park to the public. Today the park has over 110 acres (450,000 m²) and over sixty rides and attractions. Hersheypark admission also includes entry into ZOOAMERICA, an adjacent zoo. Also adjacent is Hershey's Chocolate World, a visitors' center that is open to the public and that contains shops, restaurants, and a chocolate-themed ride. Both Chocolate World and ZOOAMERICA are accessible from outside the park boundaries, with Chocolate World offering admission for free.
