At the beginning of my summer, I was invited to spend a week with my cousins at Wildwood Crest in New Jersey. after going to the beach, I relaxed at home for a few weeks, and earned SSL hours. I finished my summer by going to The Olney Theater Summer Institute.
I spent the majority of my summer at the Olney Theater Summer Institute. OTSI is a program for high school students interested in new ways to study theater. I went there for five weeks, for nine hours a day. It was a very collaborative enviornment in which we were able to create our own original product for the final show.
Every day we had our core classes (Acting, Singing, Movement, and Dance), and occasionally a few various workshops. after these classes we would have what was called CoLab for three hours. In CoLab we would create original pieces and rehearse for our final show. This was my second summer at OTSI, and it ended up being a completely different experience then it was the first year, and afterwards I found myself to have a much greater understanding of the program itself, and all the concepts that went along with it
I spent the second week of my summer break at Wildwood Crest beach in New Jersey.
This beach had amazing waves for body boarding, and our hotel was right next to the beach. Every day we would get our boards and bring them out to the beach, where we would go between boarding, sunbathing, and going to the pool. My cousins taught me how to catch a wave at the right time, how to get on top of the wave, and how to drop in on waves. There was an amazing restaurant right on the beach with great food and a really nice view. At night we would go on the beach and play frisbee in the dark. There was an amusement park right next to the beach called Morey's Piers. We went to the piers one night, and went on all the roller coasters, including the sky coaster, which consists of two poles, and two ropes that go between them. You are attached to the two ropes by a harness, then they pull the ropes in to that you are hoisted in to the air, where you pull a cord and free fall 150 ft. It was by far, one of the best beach vacations I have ever been on.
